CURRICULUM
CTI is registered and accredited by DHERST as a tertiary institution.
The Institute currently offers three degree and six diploma programmes:
The Diploma in Philosophy
A prerequisite is completion of Year 12 secondary school or an equivalent.
This course normally represents two years of full-time studies, or up to seven years of part-time study. It includes courses in Latin and a Philosophical Research Paper
The Diploma in Philosophical Studies
A prerequisite is completion of Year 12 secondary school or an equivalent.
This course normally represents two years of full-time studies, or up to seven years of part-time study; it requires fewer courses than the Diploma in Philosophy.
The Certificate in Philosophy
A prerequisite is completion of Year 12 secondary school or an equivalent. This course represents completion of 45 credits, primarily in Philosophy, in up to four years of study; it is intended for external students.
The Associate Degree in Theology
A prerequisite is completion of the Diploma in Philosophical Studies (or equivalent from another institution.) This course normally represents four years of full-time studies, or up to fourteen years of part-time study. Associate students are required to pass a Comprehensive Exam.
The Bachelor of Theology degree
A prerequisite is completion of the Diploma in Philosophical Studies (or equivalent from another institution.) This course normally represents four years of full-time studies, or up to fourteen years of part-time study. Bachelor students are required to pass a Comprehensive Exam and complete a Theological Synthesis paper.
The Bachelor of Sacred Theology degree
A prerequisite is completion of the Diploma in Philosophy (or equivalent from another institution). This course represents four years of full-time studies. STB students are required to take language credits, electives, pass a Comprehensive Exam and complete a Theological Synthesis paper.
The Certificate/Diploma/Advanced Diploma in Theology
A prerequisite is completion of the Diploma in Philosophical Studies (or equivalent from another institution.) These courses represent 40, 80, and 120 credits in Theology. They are intended for external students and do not qualify one to be ordained a Catholic priest.
